1. Where is Hamilton?

The first thing you should know is where Hamilton is! It is a city on the island of Bermuda. It also happens to be the capital city of the nation!

If you would like to visit Hamilton and are short on time, don’t worry, you can see the whole city easily in under a day! That’s because Hamilton covers an area of about 180 acres – this makes it one of the smallest cities in the world.

As of 2016, only 854 people live in Hamilton, Bermuda! At least that’s a great way to get to know litreally all of your neighbours!

The climate in Hamilton is humid and subtropical. This means that the summers tend to be warm, windy, and pretty cloudy. The winters are relatively long, wet, windy, and cloudy, but tend to remain relatively warm, too. At least, compared to some of our homes up in the upper hemisphere!

Generally speaking, the best time of year to visit Hamilton is from about mid-March to early June. If you want to avoid the tourists, try going from late October to late December! However, pretty much any time of year is a great time to visit Hamilton and the rest of Bermuda!

If you ever find yourself in Hamilton, go straight to Fort Hamilton for a historic day out. The fort was initially built to protect the dockyard back in 1870. However, now it provides the perfect place for a view across the whole city!

8. What language do they speak in Hamilton?

As Hamilton – and therefore Bermuda – is an overseas British territory, it should come as no surprise that the official language in the city is English! That makes it very easy for tourists to get around, and you won’t need to brush up on any phrases before you depart.

9. Money, money, money!

For all that you can speak English with the locals here, don’t try spending any English pounds – they won’t get you very far! The currency in Hamilton is the Bermudian dollar, so make sure to change up your currency before boarding a flight.

10. It’s a snorkeler’s paradise.

One of the most popular activities in Hamilton is snorkeling! You can snorkel off the coast of the city for up to 7 miles! For all that Hamilton is beautiful above the water, there’s tons to explore in the deep, too.
