Elena Cornaro Piscopia made history!
In 1678, Venetian woman Elena Cornaro Piscopia received a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Padua. She was the first woman to claim a university doctoral degree or Ph.D. on record!
The Hoover Dam was ready to build.
In 1929, US President Herbert Hoover authorized the construction of the Boulder Dam, commonly known as the Hoover Dam. Even now, it remains one of the most impressive constructions across the US!
Anne Frank’s diary told all.
The tragic yet historically vital diary of Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl hiding with her family from Nazi soldiers, released to the public on June 25th, 1947 – just two years after the war ended. Frank died in a concentration camp at the age of just 15.
The Korean War began.
In 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea, thus beginning the Korean War. To this day, the two nations remain separate – and it’s thought more than 2.5 million people lost their lives during conflicts across the war itself.
Harrison Ford made us question everything!
In 1982, today was the date that the classic sci-fi film, Blade Runner, was first released in cinemas. The film starring Harrison Ford and directed by Ridley Scott, was a huge success and even got a sequel over 30 years later!

The Beatles remain the most successful band of all time to this day. These Fab Four (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison) became known for their profound lyrics, British wit, and chart-changing musical styles. And, while they all were very successful as solo artists, when they were all together – they dominated the world. Today’s a great day to go listen to a few tunes.
National Strawberry Parfait Day
Creamy, sweet, and comforting, a strawberry parfait is one of those desserts that’s hard to compare to. Whether you’ve tried this treat before or want to sample a new recipe or two, June 25th is a day put aside for people all over the US to serve up some delicious desserts.
