The Treaty of Paris ended the French-Indian War.

On February 10th 1763, the Treaty of Paris finally ended the French and Indian War. France then ceded Quebec to Great Britain. Both France and India have, regrettably, seen many battles and conflicts arise over the years, but today marks the end of a fairly brutal series of events.

Queen Victoria marries Albert

Victoria married Albert!

This date back in 1840 was a very special date for Queen Victoria! It was the day she married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. They’ve been honored throughout history as an iconic royal couple, and even have their own museum in the UK, dedicated to their period in charge of the British throne.

HMS Dreadnought

The HMS Dreadnought was christened.

HMS Dreadnought was officially christened on this day, bringing in the first in a revolutionary new breed of battleships! In fact, her name inspired the entire new breed of battleships known as the Dreadnoughts!

Paris Peace Treaties

The Paris Peace Treaties were signed.

Paris had yet another treaty to deal with on February 10th 1947! This time, it was the Paris Peace Treaties that were being signed by Romania, Italy, Hungary, Finland, Bulgaria, and the Allies of World War II.

Ron Brown

Ron Brown made American history.

On this date back in 1989, history was made as Ron Brown became the first African American to lead a major American political party! He was elected as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, or the DNC.

Women won the right to vote in the Utah Territory in 1870. Of course, women’s rights were, and are still being fought for, but this was a huge step forward that needs to be remembered - and it wouldn’t be long before women were given more rights nationwide. There’s still work to do - but we should always look back on days like February 10th to see how far we’ve come.
