William Shakespeare played host to an important guest.
In 1597, William Shakespeare’s famous play, “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” was performed for the first time. And the Queen herself, Elizabeth I of England, was in the audience! Now that’s an honor.
Baseball records were set!
In 1937, Carl Hubbell won his 17th straight win - at the time, he was the pitcher for the New York Giants and won against the Boston Bees. The same winning streak got him his league record for 24 victories in a row!
Judy Garland recorded a Grammy-winning performance.
Back in 1961, Judy Garland performed a series of songs at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The event was recorded and made into a double live album, which then went on to claim the Grammy Award for Album of the Year! And, to top it all off, it was the first time a female artist won that award - Garland was an incredible talent on and off the screen.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said goodbye to a beloved team.
In 1989, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played his last game as a Laker. He scored ten points in the game, and the game ended 121-117 in favor of the Lakers over the Seattle SuperSonics at the LA Forum. Abdul-Jabbar has since made his mark both in activism and on the big screen. He's multi-talented!
Beyoncé released her visual album.
In case you missed it, on this very date back in 2016, Beyoncé released her sixth album, “Lemonade.” It was released as a one-hour film on HBO and instantly became a huge hit! For both her fans and industry experts, it’s one of the most iconic releases of the past 25 years.

While his plays are great fun to watch and enjoy on their own, Shakespeare can sometimes be pretty boring to study - let's face it! Yet, talking like a character from one of the plays can be absolutely hilarious. So, thou art obliged this good morrow to converse as the great playwright would!
