1. Osiris was one of the most important Gods.

Osiris is known for being one of the most highly-regarded and frequently-worshipped deities in Egyptian mythology dating back to ancient times. He was often depicted as a mummified figure, symbolizing his association with death and resurrection.

2. Osiris oversaw the afterlife.

Although many know Osiris as being the God of the afterlife, he was actually known for symbolizing multiple things. He was a God of fertility and resurrection, too. In Egyptian mythology, Osiris was believed to be the son of Geb, God of the Earth, and Nut, Goddess of the sky. He was also the brother and husband of Isis, the Goddess of magic and motherhood.

5. He was murdered by his brother.

According to Egyptian mythology, Osiris was famously murdered by his brother Set (or Seth), who was jealous of Osiris’s power. Set tricked Osiris into entering a coffin before sealing it and casting it ceremoniously into the Nile.

6. Osiris gained a new role after his death.

It was after Osiris’ death that he became the ruler of the underworld and the judge of the souls of the deceased. He was associated with the judgment of the dead and their journey through the afterlife.
